Visit the largest surviving 19th & 20th century sugar plantation complex in the U.S.

The story of this historic site spans the centuries, from the era of the early Acadian settlers who made their homes along the bayous, through the establishment of antebellum sugar plantations, the Civil War and Reconstruction, and the industrialization of production.

The Laurel Valley Plantation Village housed enslaved people, free people of color, Acadians and Creoles, and numerous immigrant groups including Irish, Italian, and Chinese workers. With nearly 40 original structures remaining, Laurel Valley offers a unique glimpse into plantation life along the bayou.

REVIEWS:

Such a beautiful place with a lot of history — good and bad. But a beautiful place, nonetheless.
